Re:Pb with ie6 - 2006/03/14 02:47 Hi, I see that 1036 people have viewed this thread. It appears to be a signifigant problem. Not a surprise given Microsoft's strict adherence to W3C and DHTML standards (guffaw, snort, choke )

What I see is this: My menus work on both Linux and Windows versions of Firefox, as well as with Nautilus, Opera and various other browsers. My menus work fine in IE6 as well EXCEPT for the top level.

My browser is Version: 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519.
My clients are all having the same problem however. It is widespread among IE users. (why oh why don't they just get firefox, or Opera or ANYTHING BUT IE?)

The menu is THERE. The menu WORKS. There just isn't any visible text in the first level menu items.

If I "View Source" I can see the menu items just fine. They are THERE, but the text is not visible.

Now I can see YOUR menus just fine using the same IE browser. So I suspect that the problem is in the custom css that we are using. Or transparency. Or something.

Can anyone confirm that their menus do NOT work and whether or not they have customized their css for the menu? Are you using transparency? Microsoft doesn't understand transparency in many cases. What do we all have in common?

It's a valid question that needs to be answered.

Re:Pb with ie6 - 2006/03/14 03:07 Whoa... that was dum. I fiddled and played with my LXMenu to no avail. I thought I was getting somewhere when I turned Transparency on and saw the text finally.

Then I noticed that I have TWO menus, one on top of the other.

Um... then I turned off the LXMenu module and realized that IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN INVISIBLE!! I had never seen it before.

I think that I've been seeing my Mambo menu all along, thinking that it was the LXMenu. if so, then maybe the problem is just in the css of my template.

Sigh. It must be bedtime. I am such a bonehead.

C'mon.. fess up... has anyone else made this stupid mistake? ...anyone? (please?)
